Getting started
Participation in Pumps
There are 3 main ways to enter a position during a pump:
-
Manual entry — after receiving a signal in the Telegram channel, you manually enter the coin name in the coin search field on the main terminal window and open the chart of this coin for further manual trading;
-
Automatic entry based on a Telegram signal — the Moonbot terminal independently reads a message in the Telegram channel, identifies the coin name, and places a Buy order on it according to the parameters of the corresponding Telegram strategy.
-
Automatic pump detection by the PumpDetection strategy — the strategy detects a surge in activity and:
-
either automatically places Buy orders;
-
or is used only as a detection tool, opening the coin chart for manual trading.
Beginners should understand that different pump groups provide signals of varying quality: in some cases, pumps turn out to be successful; in others, they result only in a brief rise followed by a sharp decline; and sometimes the movement develops gradually and over an extended period. Therefore, strategies should be configured separately for each specific channel.
It is also not recommended to buy at market price immediately after a signal — it is more reasonable to consider entering using the formula "price 30 seconds ago - X%", that is, placing a Buy order at a price X% lower than the price 30 seconds ago. Using the Moonbot tick chart, you can analyze which coins are best suited for pumps and identify possible "pre-buys" by large players.
Example
In the upper-left corner of the chart, the following are displayed:
-
Max: 8% — the maximum price during the pump;
-
B: 0% — the purchase price as a percentage relative to the initial price;
-
S: 8% — the current price as a percentage relative to the initial price.
Below, the volumes are shown:
-
Pre — volume before the pump began (prepump);
-
BV / SV — BuyVolume and SellVolume in BTC during the pump.
The following image shows an example of a pump on the VTR coin.
We buy at 5907 satoshi at 23:00:02, almost immediately after the pump announcement. The prepump volume was 0.3 BTC, which is insignificant, and the price did not increase before the announcement (purchase price + 0% relative to the initial price). At the time the screenshot was taken, at 23:02:00, the total buy volume over 2 minutes was 13.3 BTC, and the total sell volume was 6.7 BTC. At that moment, we sell all coins at 6395 satoshi, which equals +8% relative to the actual purchase price.
