# Trading Strategies and Styles

### A trading strategy

is a predefined approach to making trading decisions: when to enter a trade, when to exit, and how to manage risk. A strategy helps you act systematically and avoid emotional decisions. Popular trading strategies:

- Scalping — a short-term strategy focused on profiting from small price movements. Characterized by a high frequency of trades and rapid profit-taking. Main timeframes: 1 minute (1m), 5 minutes (5m)
- Day trading — opening and closing trades within the same day, without holding positions overnight. Main intraday timeframes: 5 minutes (5m), 15 minutes (15m) Main short-term timeframes: 15 minutes (15m), 1 hour (1h)
- Swing trading — a medium-term strategy aimed at capturing movements within price waves or trends, holding positions from several days to a week. Main timeframes: 4 hours (4h), 1 day (1D)
- Position trading — a long-term strategy based on fundamental and technical analysis, holding positions for several weeks or months. Main timeframes: 1 day (1D), 1 week (1W).

### Trading style

— a general approach to trading that defines trade frequency, holding duration, and the level of trader involvement.

### Investing

— buying an asset for the long term with the expectation of stable price growth. Often involves low trading activity and minimal risk. Main timeframes: 1 week (1W), 1 month (1M).
